Cloudboy Announce Matinee Shows For Reunion Tour + Unveil Video 'Teaboy'

It's a fine time to be a devotee of the avant-pop sonics created by Ōtepoti's Cloudboy. Delighting fans with the announcement of a reunion tour marking the Flying Nun Records remastered vinyl LP release of their 2001 classic Down at the End of the Garden, the group have announced additional matinee shows in Tāmaki Makaurau and Oamaru — sure to be a big relief to those currently struggling with timetable / show clashes (there's a lot happening in mid-November).

Futhermore, Cloudboy have unearthed a magical audio-visual time capsule in the form of a remastered video for album opener 'Teaboy', originally shot in 1999 around Donna Demente’s Grainstore Gallery in Oamaru (where they are performing in November). Filmed / edited by Allan Thomasson and remastered by Thomasson with Nigel Braddock, the vintage clip's galavanting cast includes Demarnia Lloyd, Johannes Contag, Sally Rees, Heath Te Au and the aforementioned Demente. Watch below and don't miss Cloudboy with live visuals by Ōtautahi photographer / film-maker Stuart Lloyd-Harris at the dates following...

"The main aim of Cloudboy was to frame Demarnia's songs and intimate voice in compelling, unusual and evocative ways. Broadcast-quality home recording was still quite new then, and one of our main instruments was the sampler; digital technology had only just become affordable to poor student musicians. Recording the album was like being in a huge playground of sonic possibilities, putting together some really unique combinations to create the lushest soundscapes we could, and trying to avoid any established rock or dance styles". — Johannes Contag
