Like a postcard from an old friend that eventually finds your new letterbox, the digital-only (for now) EP from Wellington’s Warm Regards has finally reached us on Bandcamp. The two songs on Have You Always Been This Way have been floating around for a while, says Tom Watson (Cassette, Terror of the Deep, HLAH), and feature cameos from some of Pōneke’s finest. ‘What I Found’ is a quietly yearning question mark posed over swooning guitar, torn apart by ‘Don’t Say’, a track that finds Watson looking for something to lose down smooth country-tinged hallways. Catch Warm Regards at the country’s cutest venue, Vogelmorn Bowling Club, on November 10th, joined by their surf ‘n’ turfing mates The Beach Balls.
