Phoebe Rings Return With Single / Video '아​스​라​이 (Aseurai)'

Fronted by Tāmaki Makaurau songwriting talent Crystal Choi, Phoebe Rings bounce back onto our airwaves with '아​스​라​이 (Aseurai)', their first new single since 2021's self-titled debut EP. Written in Choi's mother tongue Korean, “as it resonated more naturally with the melody and the content of the lyrics,” the immaculately arranged '아​스​라​이 (Aseurai)' is a deeply felt "wishful message for those we can no longer see, and for those we deeply miss" — folding ingredients of sophisti-pop balladry and gently strutting disco-boogie into one transcendent tune. The accompanying video for was directed by Nahyeon Lee and made with support from NZ On Air's new Pan-Asian funding initiative, depicting a gloriously garbed Choi singing amidst towering mushroom sculptures made by Hanna Shim.
