Party Dozen & Cable Ties Auckland Show Announced

Chris Cudby / Friday 9th February, 2024 2:55PM

The latest in a tsunami of top notch, technically unofficial side shows for Wainuiomata's Camp A Low Hum festival, Australia's Party Dozen and Cable Ties are banding together for a ripper of a double headline rager at Tāmaki Makaurau's Whammy Backroom on 22nd February. The sonically untamed psych / hardcore / no-wave / jazz Sydney duo of Kirsty Tickle (saxophone) and Jonathan Boulet (percussion, sampler), Party Dozen have three studio long players to their name thus far, with their latest The Real Work featuring guest vocals from none other than Nick Cave on 'Macca the Mutt'. Also playing a sold-out gig in the same venue the following night with local noiseniks Wax Chattels, Naarm punks Cable Ties unleashed their fourth album All Her Plans last June and recently supported Kim Deal's legendary The Breeders in their hometown. Capacity for this red hot show will be strictly limited, so don't snooze...

Press release:

Party Dozen are a 2-piece from Sydney made up of Kirsty Tickle (saxophone) and Jonathan Boulet (percussion and sampler). Forming in 2017, they have become renowned in Australia for their incendiary live shows and three remarkable albums. Blending elements of psych, hardcore, no-wave and jazz, their largely instrumental sets are punctuated by Kirsty’s unique “singing” style, screaming into the bell of her saxophone, which itself goes through a bevvy of effects pedals. The last three years have seen them tour Europe, USA, Japan and China, release a record on Sub Pop and have Nick Cave feature as guest vocalist on single “Macca The Mutt”.

Cable Ties are a fierce, tense rock’n’roll trio from Melbourne. They take the three-minute punk burner and stretch it past breaking point to deliver smouldering feminist anthems. Post-punk and garage rock hammered together by a relentless rhythmic pulse. Hot off a big year of touring through oz, Europe and The USA. Cable Ties released their third album, All Her Plans, in 2023 on Poison City in Australia/New Zealand and renowned US label Merge Records for the rest of the world.
