Making their thunderous return to Aotearoa playing a headline event at Auckland Town Hall this Saturday, Lou Barlow co-founder of US noise-rock kings Dinosaur Jr. is making the most of a rare night off beforehand, treating us to a solo show at Whammy Backroom on Friday. Releasing solo home recorded missives as Sentridoh from 1990 onwards, Barlow is of course co-helmsman of Sebadoh, leading light of the '90s DIY / lo-fi indie-rock movement with many classics under their own belts including '94's Bakesale and '96's Harmacy. Also a Billboard chart-topping artist as one half of The Folk Implosion, whose Max TV hit 'Natural One' was prominently featured in Larry Clark's controversial 1995 film Kids, do not snooze in nabbing a ticket (if you haven't already) to catch Barlow at Tāmaki Makaurau's strictly limited capacity Whammy Backroom. Take action immediately to avert punishing levels of FOMO...

Press release:

It's a rare night off for Lou Barlow from touring with Dinosaur Jr, so Plus1 and Whammy are delighted to present Lou's intimate solo concert at Whammy Backroom.

Away from Dinosaur Jr, Lou's much-heralded solo career began in the early 90s under the moniker of Sentridoh, before releasing material under his own name.

He is also the frontman of Sebadoh (who last toured New Zealand in early 2020) and a member of Folk Implosion.

Show starts 9.30pm sharp.
