Loves Ugly Children Announce Auckland Reunion Show
A name synonymous with mid-nineties Aotearoa punk / emo / shoegaze / grunge raw power, Loves Ugly Children are making an explosive return this winter, following last week's Ōtautahi Go Live Winter Music Festival news with the announcement of a one-off Tāmaki Makaurau headline show — their first gigs together since 1998! Creators of double-punch Flying Nun classic albums Cakehole (1995), Showered in Gold (1997), plus numerous EPs and compilation contributions — including Abbasalutely and the Scarfies soundtrack — Simon Maclaren (Subliminals, Psychic Maps), Floss Fleury, and Jason Young are back to bust out "all the songs you wanna hear, cos they're playing them!" at The Mothership on 22nd August.

Press release:
LOVES UGLY CHILDREN are reuniting for ONE SHOW ONLY in Auckland!!!
The deeply emotive raw power that New Zealand’s Loves Ugly Children brought to international fans throughout the 1990’s - is back.
A hugely powerful force both live and recorded - Loves Ugly Children were arguably the backbone of the underground emo/punk/shoegazer/grunge music scene in New Zealand during the mid nineties, releasing a good handful of EP's and albums for Flying Nun Records - and previously Flat City and Failsafe. They toured hard, throughout NZ, Australia and Europe before disbanding in 1998.
Their drive, their energy, their focus - was and still is - pure strength and authenticity. Their output is a great case for music being healing; The timing couldn’t be more perfect for this reunion - Expect to hear all the songs you wanna hear, cos they're playing them!
Reforming are original members, Simon Maclaren (vocals, guitar) and Floss Fleury (vocals, bass guitar), and Jason Young (vocals, drums).
