The Tāmaki-based Filipino songwriter's new R&B ballad embodies both delicate beauty and the inner strength required to express such emotional honesty. 'the one' explores Jeiel's own "past struggles with my sexuality and the courage it took to finally come out to my family," spurred by youthful adventures in romance — as the artist formerly known as Jeivenchy wryly notes, "Although he turned out to be a total fuckwit, he did help me come out". The stunning piano-led tune was produced by Chequered Patterns and recorded at Parachute Studio.
