Banging the drum for Aotearoa's live music culture in a whole variety of aspects from 2013 onwards — ranging from Pōneke house party origins to the multi-venue GREAT SOUNDS GREAT festival and much more — Eyegum Music Collective are reactivating their mighty nationwide Scenic Tour series this winter. Garnering fans with fuzz-pop / post-punk anthems from their 2024 self-titled EP and high profile appearances at Ōhinehou's Port Noise Festival and CubaDupa, Ōtepoti's Pearly* have been invited to jump in the van with the capital's 'grungegaze' dynamos Cruelly, who launched their furiously squalling debut EP Ugly Behaviour in late '24. Eyegum is excited to announce the next edition of our 'Scenic Tour' series. Having previously toured Dale Kerrigan + Wiri Donna, Mirror Ritual + Porpoise, Koizilla + Sleeping Village and most recently Bad Taste + Ripship we're over the moon to reveal our next touring lineup: Pearly* (DUN) & Cruelly (WGTN)
Comprising members of Koizilla, Space Bats, Attack!, Fazed on a Pony, Dale Kerrgian amongst other acts Pearly* have hit the ground running in Ōtepoti. Building up a reputation for noisey, riotous live gigs at Port Noise and Cubadupa, Pearly* carry the heritage of Otepoti noise-rock. Building attention with the Pearly* EP, Pearly* have a debut album ready to release.
Self-described grungewavers Cruelly have been making waves with their heavy melodic '90s infused rock. Coming off a noteworthy slot at Newtown Fest, Cruelly are quickly gaining fans and a reputation as one of the leading lights of the Wellington indie-rock scene.
