Author of the fascinating new publication Mood Machine: The Rise of Spotify and the Costs of the Perfect Playlist (One Signal Publishers) — "A searing investigation into Spotify's origins and influence on music, and how streaming is reshaping music for listeners and artists alike" — New York-based music journalist Liz Pelly will speak in-person with Aotearoa's own Martyn Pepperell about the book and more on 26th August. Liz Pelly is a writer and editor based in New York. She is the author of Mood Machine: The Rise of Spotify and the Costs of the Perfect Playlist (One Signal Publishers). Her byline has appeared at The Baffler, Guardian, Harper's, NPR, Pioneer Works Broadcast, and many other outlets. She is an adjunct instructor at NYU Tisch.

Martyn Pepperell is an award-winning freelance music journalist, broadcaster, and DJ from Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Aotearoa, who writes about new and old music, as well as the cultures that surround it. His work has been published and presented by Audio Culture, Dazed, Dublab, DJ Mag, Mixmag, Mouthfull Radio, NTS, Radio New Zealand, Ransom Note, Resident Advisor, Rolling Stone, Skylab Radio, Test Pressing, and The Wire. In recent years, Martyn has been involved in archival reissue projects to secure the legacies of the Urban Pasifika family band, Fuemana, and the Japanese electronic music composer Susumu Yokota. He also runs the weekly Substack newsletter, Selected Works.
