Shayne P. Carter Announces Dunedin Solo Show
A pivotal figure in Aotearoa music, as helmsman of such needle-shifting outfits as Straitjacket Fits, Dimmer and his early punk band Bored Games, with The DoubleHappys, his own storied solo career, and even more projects throughout the years, Shayne P. Carter is the subject of director Margaret Gordon's new documentary Life in One Chord, premiering in cinemas nationwide this weekend. The award-winning songwriter and author has announced a special hometown solo headline event at Ōtepoti's The Crown Hotel on 19th September — which will likely sell out quick as a flash so don't muck about — following his appearance at the capital's multi-venue and mega-stacked Great Sounds Great Festival. Here's the official lowdown...
"Riding recent publicity gravy train, exploiting own name and recycling sole publicity shot. Hey there! Gonna do a couple of solo shows over the next few weeks — first at Great Sounds Great in Wgtn on Sept 7 and then in the old home town on Sept 19. Last couple of years been doing mainly soundtracking and improv so gonna break out the gat and play some actual tunes old and new with singing and choruses and stuff. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
