Shayne P. Carter Announces Auckland Show w/ Louisa Nicklin & Jim Nothing
Subject of director Margaret Gordon's already critically hailed new rockumentary Life In One Chord — which debuted in cinemas nationwide last weekend — Shayne P. Carter (Straitjacket Fits, Dimmer, The DoubleHappys) has announced a headline event at Tāmaki Makaurau's Double Whammy on 13th September. The multi-award winning Ōtepoti musician and author (his memoir Dead People I Have Known won the prize for best book of non-fiction at 2020's Ockham New Zealand book awards) will play solo for this auspicious occasion, joined by Louisa Nicklin (whose latest album The Big Sulk was produced by Carter) also performing solo, plus a duo set from 2025 Best Alternative Artist Tūī winner Jim Nothing. Carter's upcoming hometown gigs at The Crown sold out quick as a flash, we recommend grabbing tickets while you can...

Press release:
A cornerstone of Aotearoa’s musical landscape, Shayne P. Carter has led some of the country’s most influential acts from the teenage punk of Bored Games and the noise-pop force of The DoubleHappys, to the genre-defining Straitjacket Fits and the ever-evolving Dimmer. With a storied solo career and countless side projects to his name, Carter is now the subject of Margaret Gordon’s new documentary Life in One Chord, premiering in cinemas across the motu as part of the New Zealand Film Festival.
To mark the occasion, the award-winning songwriter and author returns to the stage for a special solo performance at Double Whammy, Auckland, on Saturday 13th September - fresh from his appearance at Wellington’s multi-venue Great Sounds Great Festival, and before his back-to-back sold-out shows at The Crown Hotel, Dunedin.
Supporting Carter at Double Whammy will be the knotty guitar work and soulful, slightly spooky vocals of Louisa Nicklin (solo) and the jangly, award winning Jim Nothing (duo).
