Guitar Wolf (Japan) Returning to Aotearoa New Zealand

Chris Cudby / Friday 23rd January, 2026 12:45PM

To witness Guitar Wolf live on stage is to experience the magnificent and unfathomable power that is JET ROCK & ROLL. Absolutely incredible when they visited here at the start of last year, the Japanese garage-punk gods will close out Aotearoa's wet and windy summer with a massive nationwide tour, kicking off in late February.

Founded by eponymous frontman Seiji in 1987, Guitar Wolf have proven to be a major influence on distorto-riff loving rock freaks across the globe, and have toured multiple times with NZ's own The D4. Their speaker-busting oeuvre includes such classic records as Wolf Rock!, Planet of the Wolves, Jet Generation, unhinged feature length horror movie Wild Zero, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. As Clean Dirt accurately declares, "YOU WILL HAVE GREAT TIME" when Guitar Wolf bust loose at the following dates — touring their just-announced upcoming new album MORE JET...

"Once again, it's Jet!
When I shout "Jet!"
A bolt of lightning crashes down on Guitar Wolf Seiji's head with a ZGYAAN! His body sizzles and burns hot,
A colossal power born, BOGYAN ZSHAAN JAKIN~!—enough to cover the entire galaxy in space
!
From the heavens, dazzling lightning illuminations crackle and race over the roaring guitars, bass, and drums,
Sparking and smoke explode with a Gyo-in! Jet Rock ‘n’ Roll blasts forth!!
Yes! That's right!
This album captures that very sound. It's the ultimate jet.
I always want to burst out, crackling and popping! The sound, the songs, the live shows, the after-parties! I refuse to settle for anything ordinary!
We've made an album so hot it'll burn you.
I want to drive everyone crazy!
No, I want to make them sane!
Wake up! This is the real rock ‘n’ roll!" - Seiji (Guitar Wolf)
