Tir (AUS) Auckland Show Announced with Taur Nu Fuin, TËRRÖW
Listeners with a fascination for dank subterranean atmospheres and moonlit, mist-enshrouded forest vistas are instructed to mark the date of 25th July 2026 AD in their diaries, for that is when Tir, Taur Nu Fuin and TËRRÖW will enchant attendees at Tāmaki Makaurau's sonic dungeon Whammy Bar. Journeying across the Tasman for the mid-winter event, Sydney-based multi-instrumentalist / composer Oytun Bektas has been releasing moody and evocative dark folk synthesiser works as Tir for nigh on a decade.
Reemerging for a rare live performance, Tāmaki Makaurau pioneers Taur Nu Fuin's first offering was 2001's Ruler of the Forest, fully anticipating the now globally beloved current form of dungeon synth / medieval synth music by an astonishing two decades plus. Openers will be rising black metal trio TËRRÖW "with absolutely no intention of easing you into the night", so armour up and make your own dark descent down the Whammy stairway — presented by Centennial Conflict and Skaventhrone...

Press release:
Centennial Conflict and Skaventhrone presents:
A night of dungeon synth, dark ambient and black metal.
Tir: hailing from Australia with origins in Türkiye, solo artist and multi-instrumentalist Oytun Bektas is a revered and respected figure in the dungeon synth community, particularly with Tir's cinematic and intricate compositions, spanning a range of styles, blending acoustic and folk elements, with epic atmospheres and neo-classical sensibilities.
Taur Nu Fuin: a pioneering proto-dungeon synth 'medieval ambient' project dating back to 1997 led by composer Bard S Lofachtaar, combining celtic folk, new age meditation and darkwave compositions, with a burning nostalgia for the late 80's and early 90's synthesizer-led long-form ambient music formulations.
Terrow: neophytes in the Tāmaki Makaurau blackmetal circle, this 3-piece raw blackmetal band will be opening the evening with absolutely no intention of easing you into the night. Hostile, dark and blasting chaotic fury with inhuman vocals and a melee of hypnotic riffs that will set the tone for the rituals ahead.
