KRAKEN Free Family Rock & Roll Festival Announced ft. Guitar Wolf, The Jackets + More
A multi-tentacled behemoth of garage rock 'n' roll magnificence, KRAKEN is an entirely free and all-ages music festival, shaking the foundations of The Original Kaipara Tavern on 8th March. A gift to Helensville gig-goers (and those making the mission there) brought to you by Magnus Octopus and CLEAN DiRT, the festival is co-headlined by Japanese punk rock gods Guitar Wolf and Switzerland-based fuzz-rippers The Jackets, both of whom will be enthralling punters across Aotearoa on their own respective nationwide tours next month — also colliding the night before at Waiheke's Artworks Theatre.
Representing Aotearoa's own storied tradition of guitar-mangling gnarly riffs is a veritable who's-who of local greats, cramming in back-to-back fifteen minute sets for the high energy all-day Sunday shindig. There's also be DJs Miss Dom, Johnny Dambuster and guests spinning vinyl tunes, vintage garments, LPs for sale and pub grub. Get your own convoy together and head along to this most ultimate of rock gigs starting from noon, all for the best price ever (free) as we wave goodbye to summer...
