Vera Ellen Shares New Album 'HEAVEN KNOWS WHAT TIME' + Announces Release Tour

Today may as well officially be Vera Ellen Day, as the multi-award-winning Aotearoa songwriter rewards patient fans with her first studio album in three years, HEAVEN KNOWS WHAT TIME via Flying Nun Records. She's also shared a generosity of bonus surprises, including a video for new single 'walking in vegas' and intel on a whole dang nationwide release tour, taking the artist all around the motu during the second half of July, following her extensive upcoming UK and EU tour supporting label-mate Aldous Harding.

Taken shape during a songwriting residency in Greytown, then crafted in the studio with producer / mixer Ben Lemi and band, HEAVEN KNOWS WHAT TIME rounds off an imperial reign of build-up singles — including the exuberantly skewed-pop of 'gayfever' and Ellen's heartbreaking duet with Hemi Hemingway 'when it's over' — with an equally majestic, emotively open and sonically playful selection of newies. Today's launch single 'walking in vegas' considers the dreaminess and allure of what it is to roam the hall of mirrors simulacra that is our western entertainment industry, serving up woozy synth sparkle and torched guitars, complete with video directed by Ellen's brother Albert River (who also sings in the song) made with support from NZ On Air.
