"There's no yang without yin / And there's no yin without yang." Hailing from Maastricht in the Netherlands, groove collective YĪN YĪN will soon be working their live dancefloor magic in Aotearoa New Zealand. Their musical vision masterfully traversing disco, psychedelia, city pop, Thai funk, Tex Mex post-rock and much more across four studio records so far, the Dutch quartet tuned in to the sublime frequencies of italo disco for their brand new long player Yatta! Definitely a dig out your dancing shoes (and perhaps even dress a little fancy) occasion, all signs point towards YĪN YĪN's headline dates in Auckland and Wellington being some of the funnest local shows of 2026 — brought to you by Eccles Entertainment...

"Because all the producers were using new recording techniques and effects and stuff like that, but there are not many pictures or videos of how they were creating things in the studio. You have to use your own fantasy and create your own story about how that music is created.

We tried to make a mix of songs that are very energetic and danceable and are party starters, but also have songs that take you on trips and are more easy. People can also just chill and relax and listen to the music and enjoy it." - YĪN YĪN

Press release:

Dutch groove-explorers YĪN YĪN are bringing disco, funk, psychedelia and dance to Wellington’s San Fran Friday 27 November and Auckland’s Tuning Fork on Saturday 28 November.

Made up of Erik Bandt on guitar, Kees Berkers on drums, Jerôme Schere on keyboards and Remy Scheren on bass, YĪN YĪN are the kaleidoscopic instrumental quartet from Maastricht, Netherlands, renowned for their genre-bending records and transportive live experience.

Emerging out of an experimental jam session in a remote ballet school village in 2017 that resulted in the making of their debut album The Rabbit That Hunts Tigers, the band have since created another three critically acclaimed albums and spent the better part of the last decade chasing rhythm across continents.

With relentless international touring and performing everywhere from Fuji Rock Festival and Lowlands to North Sea Jazz Festival and Clockenflap they have been collecting sounds, textures and musical flavours like souvenirs, drawing from a multitude of influences such as ‘70s Thai Funk, Japanese City Pop and crate-dug global disco. Each project has evolved alongside the eager exploration to immerse their worldly experience into a sonic universe of their own.

Their latest of which, Yatta!, arrived in January 2026. A defining influence on Yatta! Is the cosmic allure of Italo Disco - the psychedelic futuristic dance music that emerged in Italy during the late 1970s and flourished throughout the 80s. “It has something of a mystique,” the band explains.
