Save Neck Of The Woods Fundraiser Launched
Tāmaki Makaurau's musical community has rallied in support of Karangahape Road's beloved independent venue Neck of the Woods, who late last week announced they'll be calling it a day following eleven years of dedicated duty. An already phenomenally successful givealittle fundraiser was launched on Saturday by club event organisers Nympho (as Nymph Ltd.), which has at this time raised closed to half of the targeted $150,000 goal. The givealittle page states: "While the ultimate goal remains raising the full $150k to remain open, if the target is not reached prior to next week's scheduled closure, all funds raised will be utilized as a wind-down fund."
An absolute cornerstone of Tāmaki Makaurau's nightlife, a space which has fostered countless local artists and a crucial node in Aotearoa's touring networks — both local and international — we wholeheartedly encourage you to help the Neck of the Woods team. The fundraiser ends on 27th June so don't snooze, please donate HERE.
We reached out to Neck of the Woods owner / operator Jonah Merchant, who this morning shared:
"The outpouring of support over the last few days has reaffirmed to us how important and necessary it is to provide a space for this thriving community. The way everyone has come together so quickly actually feels like a movement. We’re so close to reaching our fundraising target now thanks to that same community backing us so hard, so your donation could actually help us keep Neck of the Woods open. We have the opportunity to reimagine and put in place more sustainable models of operation not so tied to bar takes."
