DEATHRO (JPN) Touring Aotearoa with Unsanitary Napkin

DEATHRO demonstrated exactly why he's known as Kanagawa Japan’s #1 rock vocalist early last year, when the beatrock icon set fire to local stages on his debut tour of Aotearoa New Zealand. Granting the wishes of new local fans, DEATHRO has revealed details of a full-blown upcoming Australasia tour, including gigs in Tāmaki Makaurau, Ōhinehou, an "ask a punk" secret show in Ōtepoti, plus three dates in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, including his already announced appearance at Eyegum's Great Sounds Great festival.

Joined by friends Unsanitary Napkin for all tour dates (will they be playing as his live band again too?) and HOIHOI in Ōhinehou, these are the spring shows to head along to in this gig-goer's opinion. Kanagawa Japan’s #1 rock vocalist DEATHRO returns to Aotearoa in September 2026, presented by Wrought Material and Chain Punk Baddie. Beloved by the Tokyo punk underground, DEATHRO combines new wave, post-punk, and J-Rock into high-energy BEATROCK in the 1980’s Japanese tradition.

DEATHRO’s performance is ecstatic and powerful, while the lyrics are grounded in working class politics. DEATHRO has a punk mind and expresses it. Amongst messages of solidarity, freedom of expression, and love for his hometown Kanagawa, DEATHRO tackles the injustice of colonisation and the oppression of the Palestinian people.

DEATHRO will be joined by UNSANITARY NAPKIN from Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Ōtepoti for all shows, and supported by local legends HOIHOI in Ōhinehou.
