As enchanting on stage as on your home stereo system, West Auckland's garage-punk-pop ambassadors Cindy share one final single before the sonic occasion that is their debut album The Way I Do launches next Friday via Sunreturn. Proving there's more than one side to the Cindy coin, Gloria Florence commands the mic on new slow-burning epic 'A Knife', taking listeners on a journey from oceanic dream-pop reflectiveness to gut-twisting, mega-heavy-psych squalling mayhem, over five incrementally intense minutes.

If you want to preorder the limited vinyl LP edition of The Way I Do you'd better get a wiggle on, as there's currently only three remaining over on Cindy's Bandcamp page, which also boasts some flash new tee designs by Roy Irwin. Surrender to the majesty of 'A Knife' and don't miss Florence, Scott Brown, James King, and Arlo Grey touring Aotearoa New Zealand "in our Daihatsu Hijet (660 cc) 3 Cyl." this spring...

"It feels like everyone is going through a lot right now and I think this song reflects the sense of instability we’re all experiencing. We wanted to show a more emotional and vulnerable side, we love making noise and making a scene, we are always up for being the high energy band, but we also have fun exploring other sides of our musical abilities. We played with dynamics in this song and explored an edgier side to the band’s sound. It’s a nice cathartic end to our high energy album.

‘A Knife’ is definitely one of the more simple songs sonically but complex lyrically. Using lots of imagery to communicate a sense of sorrow and mournfulness. We are always excited to play this song live and we hope that it has just as big an impact when people listen to the track on vinyl." - Gloria Florence
