Always lightning rods of activity, Aotearoa agit-punks Unsanitary Napkin contributed to the new Punkfest 2026 compilation and have just unleashed a four track EP of their own. Touring both locally and in Australia with Japanese beatrock master DEATHRO — starting this week with three gigs in the capital — Unsanitary Napkin's The Balls Are Back In Town is expectedly ferocious, insanely tight and unflinchingly scathing.
The title track preps us for the depressing absurdity of our 2026 general election, complete with a strangely satisfying and painstakingly executed, nads-ripping animated clip by Daily Secretion, pitting Michael Laws and Paul Henry against each other. "The Balls Are Back In Town EP was put together over five days, and features four new songs about: the return to politics and the media spotlight of should-be-forgotten shriveled testes Michael Laws and Paul Henry; the pervert-glasses-to-AI-girlfriend pipeline; the prioritisation of AI advancement over human life; and the need to reject the normalisation of the violence the American empire is inflicting on the world every day.
