Pachyman Returning to Aotearoa New Zealand This Summer

Dubwise scientist in the studio and charismatic dynamo at the controls onstage, the mighty Pachyman is all set to return to Aotearoa New Zealand, joined this time by local special guests Christoph El Truento and The Lahaar. The Puerto Rican producer and multi-instrumentalist will be sizzling up our dancefloors this summer, playing at Tāmaki Makaurau's Double Whammy, Pōneke’s San Fran, a free party at the Festival Of Lights in Ngāmotu New Plymouth (lucky Taranaki punters!), plus the already sold out Tora Bombora festival in the Tora Coast in the Southern Wairarapa.

Pachyman will be back down under touring his latest album Another Place, a ten track collection extending his dubby investigations further into realms of post-YMO synth-pop, dub techno, reverberant exotica and deeply zoned psych-rock. His hat game on-point in the photo above, revisit our chat with the heavy groove wizard himself HERE and dress to dance with Pachyman in January 2027 — brought to you by Banished Music and Strange News...

Feel the reverberant energy of 'Calor Ahora', from Pachyman's 2025 album Another Place...

Press release:

Over four albums, Pachyman has proven himself a dedicated craftsman working in the lineage of dub reggae while mastering the methodology of masters like King Tubby and Scientist, using vintage gear, constructing glorious walls of sound, and developing an intuitive understanding of the power of repetition. Since his triumphant last visit in early 2025, Pachy “Pachyman” Garcia has released what critics are calling his most adventurous album to date, the dubtastic album Another Place.

With Another Place, he synthesizes the myriad scenes that have recontextualized dub, from the synth-pop of William Onyeabor and Yellow Magic Orchestra to Basic Channel’s amniotic dub techno. Featuring even stronger Latin flavours infused through his sublime Lover’s Rock and Studio One inspired sounds, this will be a supercharged version of the Pachyman shows we’ve seen in the past.
