Friday Flashback: The Valentinos - It's All Over Now

Friday 25th May, 2012 1:12PM

Bobby Womack is a name you will have seen pop up a lot this year as the soul legend readies the release of his first album in over a decade. Before he was a name in his own right though, Bobby Womack along with his four brothers first rose to success in the early 60s as The Valentinos.

Originally starting out as The Womack Brothers in the 50s they changed their name to The Valentinos and released their first hit single 'Lookin' for a Love' in 1962. They followed that up with this track, 'It's All Over Now', co-written by Womack and later covered by The Rolling Stones who took it to the top of the UK charts.

Bobby went solo in the late sixties, peaking in the late 70s through to early 80s and has been resurrected in recent years by Damon Albarn (featuring on Gorillaz's 2010 album Plastic Beach) who along with XL Recordings's Richard Russell helped produce his new album The Bravest Man in The Universe out June 8th - here is the first single from the album 'Please Forgive My Heart'
