Mars Volta Break Up Over Omar's New Project Bosnian Rainbows
Cedric Bixler-Zavala of cult prog-rockers the Mars Volta announced the end of the band via a tirade of tweets yesterday. The reason for the split appears to be Omar Rodriguez-Lopez' shift in focus to a new project called Bosnian Rainbows. Here's a couple of Bixler-Zavala's Twitter gems to give you an idea of what went down:
"Thank u 2 all VOLTA fans u deserved more especially after the way u rooted for us on [2012's Noctouriniquet], but Bosnian Rainbows was what we all got instead. I can't sit here and pretend any more. I no longer am a member of Mars Volta."
"What am I suppose to do be some progressive house wife that's cool with watching their partner go fuck other bands? We owe it 2 fans to tour."
Wowza.
Bosnian Rainbows consists of Rodriguez-Lopez, Deantoni Parks, Nicci Kasper and Teri Gender-Bender, and they've already released a track called 'Torn Maps' which you can listen to below.
