It's been another great week for tour announcements with Laneway Festival revealing an absolutely stellar lineup of artists appearing at the festival next year on Tuesday morning,  American horror-punks Misfits announced their return for two dates in January and Lawrence Arabia has announced an extensive nationwide tour in November.

Keeping on the touring buzz with releases news - Melvins, who were announced to be returning last week, have released the first track from their new album Tres CabronesKurt Vile - who'll return in January for Laneway Festival - this week announced the release of a new EP and released an excellent mix tape of tracks that influenced his latest album Wakin' On A Pretty DazeWatercolours - who will also play Laneway Festival - announced the release of a new EP in November with new single 'Sliders'.

And in other release news, Sun Kil Moon announced a new album and released first single ''Richard Ramirez Died Today of Natural Causes', Connan Mockasin has released the first single form his new album Caramel out in November, our fav Christchurch musician Joe Sampson released a new album of demos this week, essentially providing a preview of his upcoming releases with bands T54, Salad Boys,  and The Dance Asthmatics, and the mighty Dead C have a new album out this month titled Armed/Courage - stream one half/opening track 'Armed' below.

Caught live this week we have something a little different - a trio of humorous Friday distractions including a VH1 style mockumentary on Canadian band Islands featuring comedians Michael Cera, Bill Hader, Rich Fulcher + more, Jimmy Fallon did one of his amazing lip synch battles this week with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Atoms For Peace appeared on The Daily Show...
