Weekly Round-Up: Friday 13th December

One more week to go! Yep, this is the second to last round-up of the year and as usual there's plenty to cover. This week got started with the incredible news that Lorde had been nominated for a whopping four Grammys! This did mean however that she wouldn't be able to make it to Laneway Festival as scheduled but was announced to play a make-up show the following Wednesday instead. Influential duo Matmos were then announced to be touring in January as part of the 2014 Altmusic Programme, recently reunited hip hop legends Jurassic 5 were announced on Wednesday to be returning in March and likewise,  US sludge-rockers Kylesa were announced to return for two dates in March.

To release news and this week we got the first extended preview of St Vincents' new self-titled album with first single 'Birth In Reverse'Flying Lotus apparently announced plans for a new album in the new year via Twitter earlier this week, a new Johnny Cash record of recently discovered studio recordings titled Among The Stars will be released in March, the Black Lips announced the release of a new album titled Underneath The Rainbow in March,  Blur's Damon Albarn released a teaser video for his forthcoming solo album,  Burial has made his new EP 'Rival Dealer' available to stream free, and  food-crazed Japanese duo Cibo Matto announced the release of their first album in 15 years and shared the first single. Locally, Street Chant's Emily Littler has released her first solo effort under the name Emily Edrosa,  a second single from Shocking Pinks' new triple LP has been made available to stream and Brooklyn based expat and Silver Scroll winner, LIPS released a new EP title Ghost and Demons.
