Indie-rock legends Sebadoh have announced a nationwide tour of New Zealand in March. Led by Lou Barlow, also of Dinosaur Jr fame of course, the band emerged in the late 80s going on to release a number of notable records through the 90s which they followed up with a brand new release last year. Titled Defend Yourself, the new album was released via Domino last September and sees the iconic band return to New Zealand for the first time in nearly two decades. Here are the tour details....

Sebadoh fans can look forward to a mix of tracks across their career, from classic albums like Bakesale and Harmacy right through to last year’s acclaimed release Defend Yourself (Domino/EMI) – their first new studio album in some fourteen years. The new album debuted at No. 1 in the US on the "New Alternative Artists" Billboard chart.

Sebadoh’s return to New Zealand comes 19 years after their last Kiwi tour, which included a Powerstation concert (July 1995) with Garageband and Drill, and Warners in Christchurch with Brother Love.

Sebadoh are now viewed as one of the most important indie bands from 1990s to today, with several of their records viewed as seminal alongside the likes of Pavement, Guided By Voices, and Superchunk.

Formed in 1986 in Westfield, Massachusetts, Sebadoh put their own compelling stamp on low-fi indie rock, highlighted in early releases like 1990's Weed Forestin’ and 1991’s Sebadoh III.
