Stream Into Orbit's Debut Album - Caverns

Tuesday 12th August, 2014 12:07PM

Experimental rock duo Into Orbit from Wellington have released their debut album Caverns and have made it available for streaming via Bandcamp. Into Orbit was formed in 2013 by drummer Ian Moir and guitarist Paul Stewart, who have played together in various projects for the last seven years. Together they create an immersive sound that blends elements of polished prog-rock, ambience and drone.

Caverns was self-recorded over 12 months in the pair's practice space in Seaview which, according to Moir, has "tin walls and no acoustic treatment whatsoever". After several attempts they managed to capture the energy they were looking for, and sent the recordings off for mixing by James Goldsmith at The Blue Room Studio, after which it was mastered by Mike Gibson of Munki Mastering. Have a listen to their excellent effort below...

Into Orbit
are celebrating the album's release with a show at Valhalla on 5th September with support from Hiboux and E N T. Head over here for more details.
