Wellington are in for another Big Day Out offshoot treat with the announcement that The Black Keys will be playing a headline show at The Opera House the night before the festival.

The Black Keys will be playing one raucous Wellington show prior to their appearance at the 2011 Big Day Out in Auckland.

The dynamic duo from Akron Ohio will be making a long awaited return to our part of the globe to rip into the instant classics from their solid Brothers Long player, as well as all the hits from their awesome and now enormous back catalogue.

The Black Keys have really stepped it up globally on this latest record, playing to sell out crowds in bigger rooms and creating new fans where-ever they play. Radio staples ‘Tighten Up’ and ‘Howlin For You’, as well a huge song on the Twilight soundtrack, ‘Chop And Change’, has made the international spotlight on them hotter and brighter than ever.

For a band that loves this part of the world, remembering they sold their last windy city show, it will have been over two years between drinks when the band take the stage in January. SO – get it together and get to see them at their own Wellington show.
