NO BRUCE WURR = NO cat!cat!cat!

Steph, Shaun and Brenda are going to play three shows this week with Brendas brother Terry on drums. PSYCHIC FREQUENCIES is the band Steph and Brenda have when we want to play whatever songs they've ever made up or whatever songs they've wanted to learn on the guitar.

Thurs 30 Nov Underground AK CITY with Partyline, coolies and P.U.S.H/tolerance

Fri 1st Dec The Castle HAMILTON with Partyline, coolies and Simian Lines

Sat 2nd Dec San Francisco Bathhouse WELLINGTON with Partyline, Coolies and heaps of other cool bands

Psychic Frequencies is Brenda and Steph with Shaun and Terry, party songs and party outfits. Psychic Frequencies is Fake Purr meets cat!cat!cat! and one-chord-is-enough emotion and economy. It was cool when people said that Fake Purr were 'mean' and 'Kyuss', and when cat!cat!cat! was described as ‘The Bangles meets Fu Manchu’. Maybe Psychic Frequencies will be like ‘The Go-Go's meets The Eagles of Death Metal’?

Favourite quote:
‘Someone has to make the first move’ Paul Auster

Weirdest gig:
We felt weirdest at our first Psychic Frequencies gig at Eden's bar when, after we cobbled together the PA and lights then set up our gear, the first band turned up, asked if they could borrow our gear (including picks), played their set, then left. We were fazed a little, but did go on to have mental fun playing requests for a handful of Fake Purr fans. A larger crowd appeared later. They missed out.

Hobbies:
Psychic space rock and reading The Psychic Soviet by Ian F. Svenonius

If we could be a soundtrack which would it be?
The Damo Suzuki biopic with the “soundtracks... soundtracks... melched...together” by The Fall

Super powers:
Psychic heart-to-heart Stephanie powers

Favourite pearl of wisdom:
“You can play a whole song with one barre chord…Learn your basic stuff, but play with emotion," Ron Asheton
