Nominations Open For 2011 NZ Music Awards

Nominations for this years New Zealand Music Awards are now open and will be so till the end of May. Two new awards have been announced, Best Alternative Album and Best Album Cover - full details below - making for a total of twenty-five categories. Best Alternative Album
RIANZ is pleased to announce the introduction of Best Alternative Album as a new genre category in 2011. Solo artists and groups working primarily within alternative music genres are eligible. As with our other genre categories, recordings nominated in Best Alternative Album cannot be entered into any other genre category of the New Zealand Music Awards.

Best Album Cover
This category now refers solely to the artwork on the front cover of the physical product, or the primary image of the digital product of the nominated album. Criteria for judging includes: originality of design concept & merchandising impact. The award is given to the designer of the cover. Nominations for this category must be accompanied by a high resolution .jpeg image of the front cover album artwork.
