Friday Flashback: Serge Gainsbourg - Bonnie and Clyde (feat. Brigitte Bardot)
Twenty years after his death, Serge Gainsbourg's legacy lives on as strong as ever. Last year saw the release of the amazing biopic Gainsbourg written and directed by Joann Sfar, adapted from his comic book based on the French icon. We were recalled to him this week by news of a tribute show held in LA last weekend. The show was curated by Beck and featured an interesting array of guest musicians including Mike Patton, Victoria Legrand (Beach House), Zola Jesus, Ed Droste (Grizzly Bear), Sean Lennon and Gainsbourg's son Lulu (click here to check out some videos).
"Bonnie & Clyde" is one of Gainsbourg most memorable songs, featuring another French icon and his lover at the time, model and actress Brigitte Bardot. It's difficult to find a decent version of the song and video together, and none are embeddable but here is a decent version - do check it out.
Here is the trailer for Gainsbourg which showed at our International Film Festival last year, it's one of the best biopics we've ever seen...
