CHART - Christchurchmusic.org.nz in association with Coffee Supreme, Al's Bar, Cosmic Ticketing, Creative NZ and RDU 98.5FM is proud to announce CHARTDISC VOL. 4 the ‘New School vs Old School’ Indie Guitar Edition 2010 Launch Party.
The compilation features a total of 12 tracks from new school upstarts O'Lovely, recent overseas tourists Bang Bang Eche, The Transistors, T54, Valdera, Sleepy Age and No Aloha versus old school luminaries Into The Void, The Undercurrents, Sexy Animals, The Cranks and How To Kill.
With more than a passing nod towards the Christchurch sound put out in the 1980s and 1990s by seminal local label Flying Nun, CHARTDISC Vol 4 ‘New School Vs Old School” celebrates all things independent with a compilation packed full of raw energetic rebellion. The bands represented here are the future of guitar based goodness in Otautahi (Christchurch). It illustrates the diversity of the local independent music scene and also demonstrates what sifters could expect to hear around the bars of Christchurch right now.
CHARTDISC Vol 4's release also marks the return of RDU98.5FM’s annual band competition, Round Up, which over the years proved to be the breeding ground for many indie guitar bands in Christchurch.
CHART invites you to the FREE launch party at AL's Bar, on Thursday 23rd September for a night of live music from some of Christchurch's best indie guitar bands both young and young at heart. Everyone who attends will also receive their own hot-off-the-press copy of CHARTDISC 4, and bands on the night include Into The Void, The Transistors, The Cranks, T54 and How To Kill, all performing live and FREE for you. ‘New School Vs Old School’ - get the beers in, turn it up, and enjoy.
