L.A. duo Oak & Gorski were on tour playing their music in Fukushima, Japan when the devastating earthquakes struck. The two musicians saw first had how the quake, tsunami & nuclear disaster effected the region, particularly the Shirai family who were hosting the them.
The Shirai family have since relocated to Auckland, & are again hosting Oak & Gorski, this time in their first trip to New Zealand. This Saturday night, the duo play a gig at one2one on Ponsonby Road. All proceeds will go towards helping families who's lives have been damaged in the quakes. They will also be paying respect to those involved in the Christchurch earthquakes.
Oak & Gorski are an acoustic duo composed of Ed Gorski & Ken Oak. Their unique combination of Ken's cello as a bass & lead instrument, Ed's acoustic guitar on rhythm, plus dual vocals, provides a minimalist backdrop for sincere songwriting. They have been included on the soundtrack to major motion picture 'She's The Man', completed five national U.S.A. tours & produced two albums under their own label, Cello Rock Records.
Joining them is Auckland's stunning songstress Caitlin Smith.
