Originally known as Dj Import, Maxx Mortimer first burst upon the New Zealand electronic scene as one of the countries most sort after D&B DJ's
His pin point precision and technicality is only bettered by his flow and ability to read a dance-floor, it wasn't long before Maxx Mortimer (Import) was regularly supporting the likes of Andy C, Noisia, DJ Hype, Roc Raiders, DJ Craze & Bailey to name a few. Not one to rest on reputation, Maxx Mortimer (Import) then entered the highly coveted Rumble in the Jungle,the national DJ competition, which in 2008 was crowned champion.
Always looking for an new challenge Maxx Mortimer changed musical direction, encouraged by the groove and space found at lower tempos, Maxx focused his production on the 120-130bpm range. Not one to be boxed in by convention or genres what Maxx produce's can simply be described as bass music, with emphasis on groove and funk coupled with high quality production standards
Maxx Mortimer has begun to gain international recognition. His collaboration Always be there with fellow Kiwi Chromatic was played by B-Traits on BBC's Radio 1, she referred to Maxx as an Up & Coming producer to watch.
