Gig Information

Internationally renowned period flautist Melissa Farrow returns to New Zealand to enchant audiences with her dazzling musicality and style in NZ Barok’s Autumn Notes series.

NZ Barok is New Zealand’s national baroque orchestra, and is delighted to be joined by Melissa Farrow for its first concert season of 2017: A stunning showcase of the beautifully expressive magic of the baroque flute featuring works by Carl Friederich Abel, Haydn, WF Bach, Boyce and Sammartini.

Melissa Farrow is principal flute of the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and a leading specialist in historical flute and recorder.

Her expertise in the wooden flutes of the early music age and their wonderful repertoire, coupled with the uniquely warm and grainy notes the historic instruments are renowned for make her performances a virtuosic delight.

Originally from New Zealand, Melissa has performed around the world, and regularly appears and records with Pinchgut Opera and The Australian Haydn Ensemble as well as the Australian Romantic and Classical Orchestra, Ironwood, The Marais Project, Salut, The Australian Chamber Orchestra, Ludovico’s Band and Latitude 37.
