Yumi Zouma Announce Aotearoa Spring Tour

Yumi Zouma Announce Aotearoa Spring Tour

A.K. / Monday 14th June, 2021 11:45AM

It's been over a year since Yumi Zouma released their third studio album Truth Or Consequences and almost immediately had to pull the plug on their colossal sold-out North American tour after just one show. Now that border restrictions have loosened a little, the dream-pop four piece have locked in an Aotearoa tour for this spring, performing in their home country for the first time in more than two years. Since their album celebrations were cut short due to Covid Reasons, Yumi Zouma got to work on an entire reimagined version of the LP and released Truth or Consequences - Alternate Versions last October. Observant fans might have noticed the band was also added to the bill for Queenstown's Snow Machine Festival earlier this year, which will be Yumi Zouma's last stop on their five date New Zealand tour before zooming over to Australia. Catch the Yumi Zouma crew in a centre near you this September...

Following the international success of their back-to-back 2020 albums "Truth or Consequences" and "Truth or Consequences - Alternate Versions", the Kiwi quartet will be hitting the road for the first time since the pandemic curtailed their album release tours of last year.

Yumi Zouma said “We couldn’t be more excited to officially announce we are coming home and playing shows this August and September. If this past year has taught us anything, it’s that playing live is an incredibly important luxury for us, and we can't wait to get going again back in Australia and New Zealand. After being stuck on the other side of the world for a while, we hope these shows will be special moments for our fans, friends, and families and we can’t wait to see all your beautiful faces soon.”

Starting life as a long-distance home-recording project, Yumi Zouma shot to blogosphere fame in 2014 following the release of their four-track ‘EP I’ and it's lead single "A Long Walk Home For Parted Lovers". By the time ‘EP II’ arrived a year later, the group had begun playing live, touring with the likes of Jamie xx, Tei Shi, and Lorde. In 2016, the band released their debut full-length album, Yoncalla, after a week at Philippe Zdar’s Motorbass studios in Paris. Their second full-length, Willowbank, arrived in 2017 as a more organic take on the electropop of their debut. The band completed a trilogy of EPs with the release of ‘EP III’ in 2018, before the band's third album, Truth or Consequences, was released in March 2020, after the band signed with U.S. label Polyvinyl Records. Following the outbreak of COVID-19 and cancellation of their sold-out album release tour, the band harnessed their creative energy under lockdown to reimagine every song on Truth or Consequences and give birth to a new record, 'Truth or Consequences - Alternate Versions', released in October 2020.
