Join us for an afternoon of upbeat and joyful Brazialian music.
Originating in 19th-century Rio de Janeiro, Choro music blends European salon music with Afro-Brazilian rhythms for a lively, virtuosic instrumental style known for its sweet lament or joyful, passionate feel.
Clube do Choro Chch features a small ensembles, flute, 7-string guitar, fiddle, and percussion (like the pandeiro) playing intricate melodies, countermelodies, and syncopated rhythms, with improvisation often alongside written parts.
Clube do Chroro Chch is Julien Pringot and Marianne Bedin, and they will be joined by Nelson musicians Tamsin Leenhouwers and Dan Callahan.
