Join us for an afternoon of upbeat and joyful Brazilian music.
Originating in 19th-century Rio de Janeiro, Choro music blends European salon music with Afro-Brazilian rhythms for a lively, virtuosic instrumental style known for its sweet lament or joyful, passionate feel.
Clube do Choro Chch features a small ensemble of flute, 7-string guitar, fiddle, and percussion (like the pandeiro), all playing intricate melodies, countermelodies, and syncopated rhythms, with improvisation often alongside written parts.
Clube do Choro Chch is Julien Pringot and Marianne Bedin, and they will be joined by local Nelson musicians Tamsin Leenhouwers and Dan Callahan.
