Ensemble Mondrian—Ivana Pristašová-Zaugg (violin), Petra Ackermann (viola) and founding member Martin Jaggi (cello)—joins New Zealand performers Bridget Douglas (flute), Gabriela Glapska (piano), and Dylan Lardelli (guitar) for an evening of exploratory contemporary chamber music.
The programme features new works by leading New Zealand composers Helen Bowater, Ross Harris, and Dylan Lardelli, alongside music by Swiss composers including Jürg Frey, whose patient, searching music has made him one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary music. Alongside the new commissions, works by English Renaissance composers Thomas Woodson and John Baldwin offer an historical counterpoint.
Founded in Basel in 2000, Ensemble Mondrian has built an exceptional reputation through close collaboration with living composers, premiering new works across Europe. This is their first visit to New Zealand.
