Darkroom’s next free artist development seminar is all about touring! Musicians and music-lovers of any genre, ability or experience level are welcome to come along. This could be of interest if you’re planning an NZ tour, are ready to cross the ditch to play some Aussie shows, or if you’re thinking about heading further afield to Europe or the USA.
Or maybe you just want to come along to see some travel photos and hear some travel stories from our guest speakers Levi Sheehan (Organectomy, Disentomb, Utilize The Remains) and Daniel Ferguson (Organectomy, Utilize The Remains) who are fresh back from their latest international tour, ready to share their stories, tips and tricks with us when it comes to life on the road.
Having toured Europe, USA, and Australia multiple times Levi and Ferg have a wealth of touring knowledge to share with us, including on topics such as:
- The dos and don’ts of touring
- How to get booked for shows
- Essential comfort items to take on tour
- “The industry”, who you know, and the importance of being nice to people
- USA visa applications
- Travel and accommodation
- Navigating language barriers
- And, some of the not-so-fun aspects of touring, like the time their band gear got checked in at the airport but never made it onto the plane to Prague, or the time they had their passports, band gear and even their clothes stolen from their tour van while in France
