The Tudor Consort celebrates its 40th birthday in 2026 and we have an incredible season planned to celebrate. Collaborations with five different ensembles, a debut in Auckland, three premiere performances, and of course a performance of Thomas Tallis’ 40 part masterpiece Spem in alium. Make sure you visit our website to get all the details and secure your tickets!
We will be taking part in our third Aotearoa Festival of the Arts with SoundCathedral on Sunday March 1, an incredible re-composition of Orlande de Lassus’ Prophetiae Sibyllarum by Michael Norris, written especially for our anniversary and the 25th birthday of Stroma contemporary music ensemble. We celebrate going ‘over the hill’ in style in our May 2 concert XL, featuring two 40 part works by Tallis and Mäntyjärvi. We have two concerts with our friends Orchestra Wellington - Leonard Bernstein’s energetic Chichester Psalms as part of W:Ellington on 30 May, and Victoria Kelly’s brand new opera Ocean on 28 November. A debut in Auckland with NZ Barok sees us performing Lotti and Handel, and we finish the year with Messiah with Australian virtuoso harpsichordist and director Erin Helyard.
This is one of the most exciting seasons in our history, and I hope very much you can join us as we celebrate!
