Miro Holland – Trumpet, compositions
The release of ‘Miro Holland Group’s first record ‘Fruit from the Family Tree’, is the first recorded evidence of a compositional body worked on over years, and an instrumentation developed by a group of players since youth. For Miro, the making of the record was a means to a realisation of the inherent mnemonics of all language, and was a push towards original music more aware of the consistency of the boundless relevance of expression.
Music about Aotearoa, or about life here, but of relevance to the memory, or memory’s recapitulation in one’s new thinking.
The group, who all grew up playing together, are now some of the most sought after and radical musicians in Aotearoa. Excited to play in Tāmaki Makaurau under the banner of “Miro Holland Group’ for the first time, are themselves familiar faces to venues across Tāmaki Makaurau. And after the departure of saxophonist Isaac Randel to Melbourne, they are joined by local Saxophone colossus Iggy Nama Ruci.
Come and hear the songs of ‘Fruit from the Family Tree’. Come and hear new music from Pōneke.
