Gig Information

Two of the most distinctive guitarists in independent music come together for an intimate double bill this October.

Over the past four decades, David Pajo and Mick Turner have quietly shaped the sound of experimental rock, post-rock and instrumental music through an extraordinary body of work. Between them they've played in, recorded with or collaborated alongside artists including Slint, Dirty Three, Tortoise, Gang of Four, Cat Power, Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Stereolab, Royal Trux and countless others, leaving an influence that reaches far beyond their own recordings.

Performing as Papa M, David Pajo has spent more than 25 years exploring the expressive possibilities of the electric guitar, moving effortlessly between shimmering instrumentals, folk songwriting and expansive, cinematic compositions. His latest album, Ballads of Harry Houdini, marks another bold chapter, weaving together intricate guitar work, textured electronics and vocals into what Drag City describes as a fresh, fine and fat-assed set of songs.

As a founding member of Dirty Three, Mick Turner helped redefine instrumental rock, developing a guitar style that's instantly recognisable: lyrical, spacious and emotionally direct. Alongside his acclaimed solo recordings and work with Tren Brothers and Mess Esque, Turner has built a catalogue that rewards careful listening and continues to inspire musicians around the world.

Twenty-six years after first touring Australia and New Zealand together, Papa M and Mick Turner reunite for a rare run of intimate performances. Whether you've followed their work for decades or are discovering it for the first time, this is a rare opportunity to experience two singular artists whose influence can be heard across generations of independent music.
