Gig Information

Petra Dubach & Mario van Horrik (Netherlands) have been an artistic duo since 1983, working from the notion that movement and sound are identical; without movement (vibration) nothing can be heard. They explore this idea in many forms through installations and performances using sound, image, new-media and technology, with a particular interest in projects that deal with communication, formal translations, and (mis)understanding. They have presented their work worldwide and join us on the back of their upcoming installation and performances at the Audio Foundation in Tāmaki Makaurau. For this concert they will be performing their Table Piece for amplified table. Travel made possible with the help of Dutch Cultural Foundation - the Constant van Renesse Fonds.

David Long & Amy Jean Barnett (duo)

David Long is a composer, performer, founding member of The Mutton Birds, and member of easy listening noise band, Teeth. His career has spanned over 40 years and seen him work on numerous projects to commercial and critical acclaim. In his own words he likes to mash shit up, creating orchestral scores that utilise not only classical instruments but all sorts of things. Among many accolades, this year he and Stephen Gallagher were jointly awarded an Emmy for Outstanding Music Direction and Composition for their work on TV series, Secrets at Red Rocks, and in 2020 he won best score at the APRA Silver Scrolls for the BBC drama series, The Luminaries.

Amy Jean Barnett is a composer and artist working with sound, performance, installation and acoustic ecology in her practice. Barnett's live performances weave intricate narratives through sound, drawing on electroacoustic techniques, minimalism, and field recordings. Working with recorded fragments, improvisation, and a tactile engagement with materials, she creates auditory environments of shifting textures that invite deep listening and reveal the subtle complexities of sound unfolding over time. Barnett is currently pursuing a Master of Musical Arts at the New Zealand School of Music under the supervision of Michael Norris.

Special thanks to Creative NZ and Wellington City Council for supporting Pyramid Club's programme.
