Mario van Horrik & Petra Dubach (NL)
Dutch sound artists Mario van Horrik and Petra Dubach build performances from the body outward. Their practice is rooted in physical motion: sound generated through the body, sustained and shaped through feedback between body and mind.
For this performance they present a version of The Table Piece, an ongoing improvised work developed since 2009. Using whatever is found on the night, a table amplified with kitchen tools, toys, simple flutes, marbles, alongside two microphones and a loop station, van Horrik and Dubach turn everyday objects into a live, evolving sound world.
Neil Feather
Neil Feather’s performances sit at the intersection of sculpture, invention, and improvised music, part concert, part live engineering experiment, built from instruments that look as extraordinary as they sound.
Over decades Neil Feather has developed dozens of one-of-a-kind instruments combining strings, springs, magnets, motors, flywheels, bicycle parts, and bowling balls to explore the sounds of unlikely physical events. Instrument-families like the Nondo, the Vibrawheel, and the Former Guitars have become his signature vocabulary. A founding figure of Baltimore’s experimental and improvised music scene since 1985, Feather co-founded the High Zero Festival of Experimental Improvised Music and was a key player in the city’s legendary Red Room Collective. His work has earned him a Sondheim Art Prize and Trawick Prize (both 2014), inclusion in the 2014 Venice Biennale exhibition Art or Sound, and a Guggenheim Fellowship (2016).
Kristian Larsen & Adam Ben-Dror
Auckland sound and performance artists Kristian Larsen and Adam Ben-Dror are regular fixtures of the legendary Vitamin S Pool Nights. Working across electronic instruments, found sound-makers, and small handmade devices, the duo will perform live improvised electronics, including sounds coaxed from circuit-bent e-waste, repurposing discarded technology into new instruments.
