Auckland Songwriters Circle Showcase returns with another evening celebrating original music from some of Tāmaki Makaurau's most exciting emerging and established independent artists.
Join us on Sunday 30 August 2026 for an intimate night of original songwriting, where each artist brings their own unique voice, stories, and musical style to the stage. From soulful folk and blues to ethereal alt-pop and heartfelt contemporary songwriting, this showcase offers audiences the chance to discover exceptional local talent in a welcoming live music setting.
Featuring:
Valere
Tāmaki Makaurau-based artist, songwriter and producer Shana Graham performs as Valere, creating ethereal alt-pop that blends R&B melodies with intricate arrangements described by NZ Musician Magazine as kinetic, yet warmly intimate. Following support from NZ On Air's New Music Pan Asian Fund, participation in the APRA Aotearoa Mentorship Programme alongside Holly Arrowsmith, and releases featured by RNZ, Rolling Stone AU/NZ and Spotify editorial playlists, Valere continues to establish herself as one of Aotearoa's distinctive independent voices.
TAYLAH
Of Ngā Puhi descent, TAYLAH is a Māori singer-songwriter whose soulful voice and honest lyricism have already earned her performances alongside Fly My Pretties, Hollie Smith, Troy Kingi, Deva Mahal and TOI. Inspired by artists including Lianne La Havas, Lola Young and Samm Henshaw, she delivers emotive performances filled with warmth, rhythm and timeless storytelling.
Levi Lights On
The creative project of Samoan-born songwriter Michael Levin Sesega, Levi Lights On crafts soulful, cinematic songs exploring identity, belonging and the shared human experience. Known for heartfelt lyricism and a commanding vocal presence, his evolving catalogue spans independently produced releases and collaborations with acclaimed producers, culminating in his latest self-produced work that showcases his growing artistic independence.
Peter Finlay
Drawing inspiration from songwriting greats such as Neil Young and Bob Dylan, Peter Finlay writes rhythm-driven blues infused with folk-rock influences. His songs reflect on people, places and moments that matter, often inspired by the coast and the natural world. Honest, thoughtful and engaging, Peter's performances combine heartfelt storytelling with warmth, authenticity and a twinkle in the eye.
Beizou
Beizou is the musical project of Auckland songwriter Cherie, whose dreamy, ethereal songs pair honest lyrics with intimate melodies. Having found confidence through the local music community, she now shares the songs she's always loved writing, inviting audiences into heartfelt stories that are deeply personal yet wonderfully relatable.
