The New Existentialists, the West Auckland based outfit of former Dunedin and Flying Nun underground legend George D Henderson (the Puddle, Mink, Burner Phone), are playing Dunedin for the first time since the release of their critically acclaimed Bad Astrology album (#27 in Chuck Eddy's 150 top albums of 2025).
The New Existentialists, best known for the singles and videos 'The Last Days of the Internet' and 'INVOCATION', describe their sound as a mix of freakbeat psych and softcore pop.
Or to quote Graham Reid at Elsewhere, of their new album Bad Astrology moves from hefty metal through downer-Bowie to heavily atmospheric pop and often disarmingly straight-ahead pop-rock.
