Newtown Rocksteady are packing the groove wagon for two September outings: St Peters Hall, Paekākāriki on 25 September, followed by a long overdue return to their roots at the Newtown Community Centre on 26 September for a proper hometown skank.
The band was born in 2007 from a regular open jam at Newtown Community Centre, and they’ve been keeping the neighbourhood moving ever since with their own warm, loose-limbed take on rocksteady, ska and reggae.
There’ll be fresh tunes, old favourites, basslines to move ya waistlines and all of that groovy goodness, so come for the tunes, stay for the dancefloor and leave with a wide grin.
Two nights, one big-hearted band, plenty of good-time vintage reggae energy. Bring your people, bring your dancing shoes, and let Newtown Rocksteady do what they do best!!
Support on both shows from the the most soulful being in wellington... the man... George Young
