“It will be exactly a year since the Stephen Young Band last played at the Dunedin Folk Club!
Everyone (including the band) enjoyed the 2025 performance of Stephen Young’s songs and this year, the band is launching their album ‘To the Heartland'.
Reviews have been very kind, comparing the songs to those of John Lennon, The National, and Johnny Cash: “It carries a softness that feels reminiscent of Lennon’s more reflective writing, not in imitation but in intent. It reaches for connection through simplicity, even when the emotions themselves are complicated.”
But all of that aside, last year’s performance was a fun, feel-good evening full of laughter and bonhomie. Come along and share another evening of quality songs played by a band that enjoys sharing their music with a bunch of nice people!
The ‘To the Heartland’ album will be available in vinyl and CD formats on the night.
