Viva Viola!
Camerata Strings
Tickets $10 waged; $5 unwaged (available at the door)
The programme features viola soloist Anatoly Zelinsky playing Patrick Shepherd’s Shibui for viola and strings and John Emeleus’ My Aunt Jane. Zelinsky also plays the version of Shibui for viola and piano, accompanied by Veronica van den Knaap on piano, giving the audience a unique opportunity to hear the work in its two forms. Both Shepherd and Emeleus are Christchurch composers and they are joined by another with Chris Reddington’s Flute Concerto, featuring Sarah Hook (flute) and Reddington conducting.
The programme also includes Warlock’s evergreen Capriol Suite, Robert Longfield’s Rondo in Blue and probably the most moving of all works for the genre, Barber’s Adagio for strings.
