Gig Information

Your opportunity to enjoy a night of supreme musicianship. Three of Christchurch’s praiseworthy technicians will bring passion, style and elegance for a night to remember. Promising a concert in which music thrives with an enthusiasm and dedication from performers who offer the audience the best.

Opening with Tessa White and Jonathan Le Cocq playing a unique blend of music for violin, guitar and mandolin that ranges from Irish, Scottish, Canadian and French traditional music, to intricate jazz and country-inflected fingerstyle, to hard-to-classify originals. Recent appearances include the Christchurch Folk Club and various South-Island folk festivals, most recently the 2017 Cardrona festival.

Jonathan's background in early music, playing with the top performance groups in the country, informs his approach to playing traditional music, and combines with Tessa's youthful, virtuosic tune-playing for an evening of original and dynamic music making.

This is great to see … they play wonderfully. It's quite the thing to hear them playing those two tunes with their crazy time signatures. Liz Carroll, Oct. 2016
WOW! … lovely lovely playing of a masterpiece Kevin Crawford (Lunasa), Oct. 2016

Elizabeth Braggins will round off the night with a second half with her highly original versions of well-known songs are an eclectic mix of genres highlighting her classical, jazz, pop and rock backgrounds.

Liz was born in Malaysia and moved back to New Zealand shortly after to Burnham, then Bluff, before coming to Christchurch at the age of 3. Apart from moving to Singapore briefly she has lived in Christchurch all her life.

After finishing a teaching diploma she performed in and around Christchurch and further afield for many years, juggling mothering and teaching in high schools and tertiary institutions.

Elizabeth has also recorded numerous albums and has recorded and played with a vast array of well-known New Zealand musicians.

Lately Elizabeth has been performing in a number of local concerts and restaurants, teaching music from her studio and organising her annual tour.
